Abstract: Traditional studies of conjunctions focus on the written language. The confusing use of conjunctions in spoken and written language could deviate English learners from normal stylistic acquisition. In terms of spoken and written language, this article taking “because” for instance, analyzes the linking devices of spoken and written language from the perspective of comparison, and fully discusses how to use conjunctions to connect the whole discourse and text on the basis of case analysis. The different functions of spoken and written language will be illustrated in the perspective of typical “because” clause, and the reason analysis on the misuses will be mentioned later. Key Words: spoken language; written language; cohesion; conjunctions
