Abstract: Many Chinese English majors have difficulty in reading comprehension which affects their reading ability in various ways currently. Therefore, the investigation and analysis of factors influencing reading comprehension are the basis of promoting the English reading efficiency. This is a study of factors influencing the reading comprehension of English majors and countermeasures. The paper respectively illustrates the shortcomings of English majors from two aspects, and they are linguistic factors and non-linguistic factors. It has shown that this would cause the deficiency of lexicon, deviation of semantic understanding and reading psychological barriers of the whole text. Consequently, this thesis introduces the corresponding countermeasures according to those influences in order to help these English majors to improve the reading comprehension ability.
