Abstract:With the development of Chinese economy and society, English has been increasingly important in people’s daily life, thus the following English teaching methods adopted in each stage have drawn attention in all aspects. The situational teaching approach emerged with the reform process of Chinese education system and has realized certain achievements in the teaching of primary English, where this teaching approach proves to be a practical method worth considering and adoption. Its situations come from the practical activities in social life and therefore are the product of real life. This teaching method emphasizes the integration of movement process and daily life situations, students’ recognition of activities, their ability development during the activities and could inspire their interest for volunteering study. It could help students understand textbooks by generating and using vivid situations during their class teaching and thus develop students’ psychological function. Combined with my own practical experience, this paper intends to do some research and analysis on the application of the situational teaching method in teaching oral English in primary school.
