Abstract
With the development of British and American films and television programs, a sum of Euramerican works are flooding into the domestic market. With the quick pace of life, the translation of subtitle presents different ways with the traditional ways of subtitle translation. This paper analyzes the methods of subtitle translation in Sherlock from the perspective of Lefevere’s rewriting theroy. There are two main factors that affect subtitle translation: ideology and poetics. Under the influence of ideology and poetics, translators attract Chinese audiences by rewriting subtitle into Chinese two-part allegorical saying, ancient poetry and catchwords. This article is helpful for us to make a reasonable explanation of the rewriting phenomenon in the translation of Anglo - American film and television subtitle.
