Abstract
As a response to the international community’s concerns and publicity materials to enhance the understanding of China’s development philosophy, road of development as well as domestic and foreign affairs, analysis on The Governance of China is of great significance today. Among this book, a large number of Chinese-specific words has led to considerable difficulties to translators. This thesis tries to study the C-E translation of Chinese-specific words in The Governance of China from perspectives of domestication and foreignization. In The Governance of China, the domestication strategy is mainly used in translating Chinese-specific words involving traditional Chinese culture and political development, and for Chinese-specific words concerning digits and economics, most of them are translated by foreignization. In the translation of such political materials, domestication and foreignization are integrated in the process of translation, which is conductive to solving the problem of culture zero. Therefore, this thesis helps to achieve the aim of external publicity and better show an objective and true China to the world.
