摘  要

　　　文化名人是一個城市的文化名片，是一地文化產(chǎn)業(yè)蓬勃發(fā)展的領銜人物。廣東作為一個注重文化事業(yè)發(fā)展的大省，在文學、藝術(shù)、體育等各領域均孕育了眾多文化名人。本文選取了廣東省珠海市之文化名人—古元的藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作生涯作為選材進行英譯探討。

　　　古元作為中國新興版畫界的杰出畫家，是延安木刻最具代表性的版畫家之一。他一生的創(chuàng)作生涯不平坦，卻光彩綻放。他經(jīng)歷了動蕩的延安戰(zhàn)斗時期，繼而迎來新中國的成立，無論是戰(zhàn)亂或是喜慶的日子，他都深入人民大眾生活，創(chuàng)作出反映人民生活情景，具有濃郁鄉(xiāng)土氣息的版畫佳作，如延安時期著作《哥哥的假期》、《減租會》等；新中國成立后的《毛主席和農(nóng)民談話》、《玉帶橋》等。

　　　本文先說明翻譯選材的來源及特點，接著對著名版畫家古元的選材進行英譯，最后作出翻譯方法的探討及翻譯過程中的體會。本文采取的翻譯方法主要是增譯法、轉(zhuǎn)換法和倒置法，通過此次翻譯探討，讓我更好的掌握中譯英的一些翻譯方法，更靈活的處理翻譯選材出現(xiàn)較多的長句翻譯。

Abstract

　　　Cultural celebrities are served as a cultural name card of a city. They play a leading role in the flourish development of cultural industry of a place. Guangdong, as a province that emphasizes cultural development, has cultivated many notables in all fields including literature, art, and sports. This paper selects the artistic career of a famous person of zhuhai named Gu Yuan as material to probe into translation from Chinese into English.

　　　Gu Yuan , as an outstanding painter in the newly – developing field of block print, was one of the most representative wood engraving painters in Yan’an. His whole life of art creation was not smooth at all but brilliant enough. He has experienced the turbulent Yan’an combat period, and then the establishment of new China. Under any circumstances, chaotic or cheerful, he worked with people and created many excellent works that feature on strong local flavor, reflecting people’s real life, such as “Brother’s Holiday” , “Gathering for Rent Concession” , etc. produced in Yan’an Period – and “Chairman Mao and Peasants’ Talk” , “Jade Belt Bridge”, etc. produced when new China was founded.

　　　This paper firstly states the source and characteristic of the selected material and then comes to the translation part. Finally it discusses approaches to translation having been used and what I’ve learned from the translation. The paper mainly adopts the method of amplification, transformation and anastrophy. Through this translation practice, I make a better command of some translation methods from Chinese into English and the translation of complicated sentences.
